Set your QuickTime Control Panel Connection Speed:

Throughout the Dug Out site the video and audio content quality is automatically selected by your QuickTime plug-in.

The files have been compressed to 3 different levels appropriate for modem, broadband and fast broadband connections. How the plug-in decides which version to use is dependant on what speed you tell the plug-in you connect to the internet at.

You may want to check what speed you have it set for. To do this go to Settings > Control Panel > QuickTime [Windows] or System Preferences > Quick Time [Macintosh] and set the speed to your current internet connection’s speed.

Also if you find that the audio or video playback quality is variable or poor then you can adjust your QuickTime plug-in setting to a lower connection speed. This will then men that you connect to a lower quality version whcih may stream more consistently to your computer.

All the audio and video content in the Dug Out site is offered as QuickTime streaming files - compatible with both Windows and Macintosh computers.

To listen to and view these files you will need the free QuickTime plug-in for your web browser.

If you don’t already have QuickTime plug-in you can download it for free at the Apple site at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/. It should only take about 10 minutes to download on a modem and is well worth downloading as there is a wealth of content out there offered for use with QuickTime.
